2002 REEL WOMEN BARRA CLASSIC

Champion Angler Longest Barramundi Sandie Devine - 91cm
"It was sensational!"
The 1st Annual Reel Women Vodka Cruiser Barra Classic was held at Corroboree Billabong, on 25 May 2002 with 256 ladies competing in the one-day tournament.
Corroboree Billabong was not fishing at its best for the tournament due to the lack of a decent wet season, nevertheless, a grand total of 91 fish were caught and released which was a mighty effort !
31 teams piloted their own boats and a further 91 ladies boarded Mary River Houseboats as motherships for the day. "Tutors" with fully equipped barra boats were available for them to fish at their leisure, which resulted in the perfect introduction to fishing for first time novice anglers.
The three-course dinner under the stars, mud crab race and live band were a nice finish to the day with the mud crab-tying tournament a definite highlight.
