7-8 May 2010 : Reel Women Blitz Big Barramundi!
The 9th Annual Reel Women Wilsons Barra Classic was held on 7 & 8 May 2010 at Dundee Beach. The barramundi fishing action was on fire and all teams landed quality fish. On day one, the ladies landed 139 barramundi with 111 on day two making a fantastic total of 250 barramundi. The average size was between 75cm – 85cm which was very encouraging. Fran Bailey landed the longest barra at 107cm.
The stand out team and Champion Team was “Three Generations” made up of Veronica Warham (mum/nanna), Charmaine Burton (daughter), Megan Warham (daughter) and Brittney Burton, 15 years (granddaughter, daughter of Charmaine). The all female team trained hard in the lead up to the event and it paid off.

Young gun Brittney also won Champion Angler with a whopping 856 points and not too far behind her was Sammie Wigg from team IPS Barra Queens with an impressive 715 points.

Runner Up Champion Team were the Catchty Ladies and were a skippered team with James Brown helping the ladies to get to where the fish were. Kathryn, Charlie and Rebecca were hot on the tail of team “3 Generations” with only 200 points between them.
Veteran Reel Women team the Shemanos were our Champion Independent Team. Connie, Deb and Meeshca are a strong team and always finish at the top of the over ladder and the team to watch. This year, they were the right at the top and were our champion independent team.
Well done ladies.
